  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the applesauce, sugar, and vegetable oil until well combined.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
