Cherries Jubilee Recipe
A classic dessert featuring cherries flambéed with liqueur and served over vanilla ice cream.

Main Ingredients
- 2 cups pitted cherries
- ½ cup sugar
- ¼ cup kirsch or brandy
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoon water
- 1 quart vanilla ice cream
In a saucepan, combine cherries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the cherries release their juices.
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Stir into the cherry mixture. Cook until the sauce thickens.
Remove the saucepan from heat. Pour the kirsch or brandy over the cherries. Carefully ignite with a lighter or match. Let the flames subside.
Serve the cherries and sauce over scoops of vanilla ice cream.
