  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup molasses

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and molasses.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are cracked. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
