  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup molasses

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and molasses.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
