Main Ingredients
- 1 lb dried black-eyed peas rinsed and sorted
- 6 cups water
- 1 ham hock
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
1. In a large pot, combine the black-eyed peas, water, and ham hock.
2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
3. Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper.
4. Continue to simmer for another 30 minutes or until the peas are tender.
5. Remove the ham hock, chop the meat, and return it to the pot.
6. Serve hot and enjoy!
